WHAT IT REALLY MEANS TO TRUST SOMEONE
When I was younger, I heard a story about a woman beaten
almost to death because she had attempted to throw away her baby of a couple of
months old. Her reason may be either finance or guilt of having a child out of
wedlock. A lot of us made it through infant-hood not because our parents didn’t have
challenges when we were given birth to but because they love us enough to make
things happen.
As children we believe that our parents have our best
interest at heart; when we are scared, we run to them. When we are lost, we
look for them. When they call on us, we follow. We believe in them, and we know
they will always provide. But not all children with these knowledge gets the
best out of their parents – some end up dead, some get abandoned, some are
rejected, some get aborted etc.
Unlike Children, Abraham doesn’t know who God is before God
spoke to him, and asked him to leave his family. God didn’t tell him exactly
where he should go or when he will get to where he is going to. God simply gave
an instruction, “go to a land I will show you”. Abraham’s obedience to God’s
instruction showed us exactly what it means to trust God, and because of his
act he was called the father of faith (Heb. 11:8).
If we find ourselves in the midst of uncertainties or things
are just spinning out of control, let’s seek to adopt Abraham’s kind of faith.
Unlike our parents, God doesn’t have any challenge in steering us out of danger.
Looking for someone to trust? Why not ask the LORD today - Help me, LORD, to trust you with the uncertainties in my life.
