WHY YOU SHOULD FEAR THE LORD

Jerry, a newly converted Christian was faced with an impossible situation. Jerry visited his uncle that owns a mall and came back home with a box of goodies. When his mom saw the box, she asked him where he got it from. Jerry's mom and his uncle are not on speaking terms and she does not like to associate with anything that comes from his uncle. If he should tell his mom where he got the box from, his mom might lash out at his uncle. And if he should lie to his mom that would mean peace in the house but unfortunately that would also be a sin. Jerry loves fears the LORD . . . telling his mom the truth might be disastrous, so he lied.

The Bible says, "The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, arrogance, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do i hate" (Prov. 8:13). To fear the LORD is simply doing what is right at all times irrespective of the situation you find yourself. Sometimes we find ourselves in situations when we feel we need to make a decision for the greater good where everyone will be happy at the expense of our salvation. We need to realize that God is God, and learn to let him lead the way. When it seems like things will fall out of place if we choose 'right' and things will be perfect if we choose logic, we end up  choosing logic, taking responsibility instead of letting God take charge.

Jerry's conscience could not let him sleep. The following morning he picked up the courage to tell his mom where the box came from. Surprisingly his mom said nothing. Couple of days later he got his mom to call his uncle. When we let God take the lead, things always work out for the greater good.
