WHY MOST BELIEVERS BACKSLIDE
I had often wondered why a man would give his life
to Christ yesterday and today he’s back to his old ways! What is responsible
for such dramatic change?
We live in a world ruled by sin. When we give our
life to Christ, we are no longer of the world but we are still living in the
world… hence there is something else that needs to be done that will keep us
from going back to our old ways, “Sanctification.” Sanctification is the second
work of grace which separates us from the world and keeps us from sin.
If Christ himself whom we follow was sanctified by God, therefore you as a believer needs sanctification (John 10:36. John 17:19).
For a new believer to be sanctified, he must be
willing to offer his body, soul and spirit to God who is able to sanctify us (I
Thess. 5:23). That believer should also be willing to study and live by the
word of God (John 17:17).
A sanctified believer enjoys a closer relationship
with God, he becomes a vessel unto honor bearing fruits and he is guarantee
not just here on earth but also the life to come.
