THE UNCERTAINTY OF LIFE
Just a couple of years back, he was diagnosed with heart and
lung disease. For me, the hardest part was returning home and seeing him on the
bed. The treatments administered were based on trials; they had no real conviction about what was wrong. The doctor gave no definitive
word about his chances of survival. After a couple of months, he died.
It’s hard to bear the burden of uncertainty, always
wondering what’s next when a loved one is on the sick bed. Will they be ok in a
week, months or years? But regardless of sickness, each of us will die one day
– things like cancer only brings our mortality to the forefront of our mind.
Let’s remind ourselves that this life will surely end someday…
whatever action we take, it might be our last. Let's ask the LORD to teach us how to
number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom to live in this world.
Death has no specific date but it will come; when it comes, let's be found on the LORD'S side.
