THE SECRET TO A SUCCESSFUL MARRIAGE PART ONE

"Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands, as to the LORD" (Ephesians 5:22). To submit means to yield to the control of someone. Apostle Paul likened the submission women are to have for their husbands to the submission they have for the Lord. If a woman says she loves and fear God, she must first of all love and fear her husband. If she doesn't have that fear in her for her husband, how then can she say she fears God. To submit is to yield to the control of their husband, not questioning their judgement and full of respect and admonishment.

Apostle Peter pointed to Sarah as an example who called her husband, "lord" (1 Peter 3:6). Many a time we find women in their homes calling their husbands by their first name, even a good morning is scarce. But these ladies are ever ready to go down on their knees to greet their pastor. They do not call their pastors by their names, mostly "Daddy". The Bible says, "submit to YOUR OWN husbands" not another woman's husband.

"Therefore as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything" (Ephesians 5:24). You and I as Christians make up the church, in everything that we do Christ comes first. . .every decision we take as it relates to our job, careers, lifestyle, music, dance, dress code etc. We do it to please God. So also is the wife to her husband, even her body. Everything that she does, she ought to do it to please the man.

If you are a christian woman and you still find it had to submit to your husband or you have no intention of submitting to your husband when you get married, you are not yet a true believer. Remember sin is anything that goes contrary to the word of God.   Finally, after the woman has done all this, God turn to the man and said, "Husbands, love your wives even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for the church" (Ephesians 5:25). The greatest sacrifice you can ever make for someone is to give your life for that person, and that is the command given to men by God.
